Writer Identity
About Khylle
I write fiction grounded in the moments where things do not resolve cleanly—where silence, duty, and consequence carry more weight than tidy explanations.
01. Who I Am
I am a writer living and working away from the noise of the literary circuit. I spend my time watching how people behave when they believe no one is paying attention: the second glance in a parking lot, the prolonged pause before answering a phone call, the way a person packs a cardboard box when they know they won't be returning to the room.
My work is informed by manual labor, long drives on unlit secondary highways, and years of observing the small fractures that open inside families and friendships.
02. What I Write
I write friction stories. Friction is not just shouting or violence. Most friction in human life happens quietly:
- • Two people sitting across from each other knowing they will never have dinner together again.
- • An old man refusing to leave a lighthouse that has been declared obsolete by an algorithm.
- • A late-night disagreement in an aisle of fluorescent light over twenty dollars worth of medicine.
- • The physical objects left behind in an apartment when a marriage dissolves.
03. Why I Write
A great deal of contemporary culture exists to reassure people: to assure them that every conflict has a solution, that all grief has five neat stages, and that technological convenience will smooth over the tragedy of being mortal.
Fiction has a different obligation. Good fiction honors the friction. It refuses to look away from the fact that people can love each other deeply and still fail to live together, or that doing the right thing often feels indistinguishable from defeat.
04. Writing Philosophy
“Good stories don’t always give people answers. Sometimes they make the question harder.”
If an adjective doesn't add gravity, remove it. If a scene can be conveyed through the scrape of a chair instead of an inner monologue, let the chair scrape.
05. The Archive
This site is designed as a living personal archive, not a marketing funnel. There are no tracking scripts, no newsletter popups, no AI-generated recommendations, and no algorithms deciding what you should read next.
